Best we've ever seen
THIS large new-build project, situated in a stunning part of Yorkshire, turned out to be the best designed and built house we have ever worked on – a credit to both the architects, One 17, and the client, who personally managed the project from start to finish.

From frames to furniture
- The architects had planned a stunning, highly-contemporary “passive house” (an ultra-low energy building with a reduced ecological footprint) and we were lucky enough to be heavily involved all the way through from the very early design stages to the end, when we supplied oak for the internal furniture and the feature external gates.
- As the building was coming out of sloping ground, future access issues meant that first we had to supply and fit the part oak frame and part steel outdoor BBQ frame, which was sited at the rear of the property.
- Then we provided massive 46ft (14m) Douglas Fir trusses to the upper floor, the assembly of which had an industrial feel incorporating a combination of steel works and brackets.Because of their length, the trusses had to be put together on the site before being lifted up to the second-floor eaves where they were surgically attached to already-fitted steel columns.
Finally, we built an extensive tall oak frame screen between the garage and the basement floor, along with a complex three-storey staircase fashioned from steel and solid oak.
